Army Shuts Out Siena Women's Tennis, 7-0

WEST POINT, N.Y.- Army coasted to victories in each of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, and did not lose a set in six singles victories in a 7-0 victory over Siena at West Point Wednesday afternoon. The Saints dropped to 5-2 with the loss, their first of the spring season, while Army improved to 10-6.
"Despite the one-sided score, our team played very well," Head Coach Tim O'Brien said following the match. "Overall, I was more than satisfied with the quality of play and effort. We look forward to scheduling (Army) again next season."
Denisa Hluchova and Andrea Disponzio were competitive at top singles for the Saints, but each ended on the losing side of the scoreboard. Freshman Ali del Moral tied Melanie Bundoc's Academy record by winning her 29th singles match of the season. The Gold River, Calif., native equaled the Mark Bundoc established during the 2000-01 campaign by defeating Disponzio at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Del Moral is an astounding 17-1 in singles play during the spring season. Junior Marissa Limsiaco got past Hluchova, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. The native of The Woodlands, Texas, is now 15-14 at the top spot this season. Sophomore Megan Noble disposed of Julia Lebedev, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, while sophomore Amanda Paluch romped past Betsey Brookins, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles.
A pair of juniors rounded out Army's sweep of the singles matches. Lyndsey Nott upended Brooke Fisher, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5 singles, while Pam Chavez took out Meghan Slenkamp, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6.
In doubles action, Limsiaco and Noble topped Disponzio and Fisher, 8-3, at No. 1. Del Moral and Nott teamed to win, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles, defeating Siena's Hluchova and Sugam Langer. Paluch and Chavez, meanwhile, captured their team-leading 11th doubles win of the spring season by upending Lebedev and Brookins, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles. The duo is now 11-5.
Siena's Sugam Langer lost a 7-5, 6-0 decision in exhibition competition not reflected in the results below.
The Saints return to the court on Tuesday, March 30 as they host Sacred Heart in a non-conference match.
