NJIT Tops Women’s Tennis

Siena fell 6-1 to NJIT on Saturday evening to fall to 5-3 on the season. The Saints took one doubles court and one singles court win in the loss.

The Saints fell 6-0 on both doubles one and two to help secure NJIT doubles point. Juliana Goehner and Julia Dunbar won at doubles three 6-4.

Goehner also picked up the sole point in singles for the Saints at singles six. She took the first set 6-4 before falling 6-2 in the second and came back to take the tiebreaker 10-2. Nanea Perkins, at singles four, put up a fight as she forced a third set after taking the second 7-5. Ultimately, NJIT’s Alba Rosas Garcia took the win 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. NJIT won in straight sets on the four other singles courts to take the match victory 6-1.

Siena will face the University of Rhode Island on Sunday, February 25 at West Point at 5:30 p.m.
