GENERAL: A complete player, Brookins can play both singles and doubles at a very high level...Anticipation is her greatest asset, as she always seems to know where the ball is going...A biology major at Siena, Brookins would like to work as an exercise physiologist upon graduation...Brother Jon attended Cobleskill...The daughter of Gilbert and Marlene Brookins...Born September 22, 1982 in Albany...AS A SOPHOMORE: Began the spring ill for almost six weeks...Was unable to travel to Florida with the team in February...Almost didn't make the spring team...Once healthy, she rounded into form very quickly and had the best season of her collegiate career...Amassed more wins in the spring season than she had in the previous 1 ½ years...Went 7-2 at #3 singles...Finished the season on a four-match winning streak and was leading in the final match of the season 5-1, when she sprained her ankle and had to retire...Beat Fairfield's former #2 in straight sets twice during the season...Had a comeback win versus Saint Peter's after losing the first set...Named Most Improved Player for 2001-02...AS A FRESHMAN: Brookins brought the Saints their only victory on their Florida trip and with partner Vicki Dunham, keyed the final round win at the MAAC Tournament with an 8-3 doubles victory...Led her teammates in the classroom, finishing her freshman year with a GPA of 3.74.

Coach's Comments: "Betsy put it all together this past spring. She now plays with the confidence and consistency to go with her broad array of strokes. She will be a force in the MAAC for the rest of her career.
