Siena College enjoyed a sweep of the weekly awards that were handed out on Tuesday with Kaela Bjornberg picking up the Swimmer of the Week honor, and Hailey Beers collecting the Diver of the Week nod.
Bjornberg picked up her first ever MAAC Swimmer of the Week award in her career. In Siena's loss to Vermont, she won three individual events and was the only swimmer to win more than two events on the afternoon. She showed her balanced attack finishing first in both breaststroke events, winning the 100 with a time of 1:09.02 and clocking in with a time of 2:28.24 in the 200. The captain also had the top time in the 100 fly, finishing with a time of 1:00.37. Bjornberg also helped the 400-medley relay team to a second place showing in the opening event, as the team finished just three seconds shy of first finishing in 4:05.96.
Beers picked up her second straight MAAC Diver of the Week honor. Beers, once again was the top diver for the Saints in their meet against Vermont. She finished fourth in the one-meter with a score of 162.45, which was the top score for Siena. She fared better on the three-meter board finishing with a score of 209.05, good enough for second in the event, only eight points shy of first place finisher Rebecca Schreiber, who was the NJCAA Diver of the Year last season.
The Saints will travel to take on Niagara on November 10 in a conference meet that starts at 1:00 P.M.
