LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena swimming and diving team placed eight student athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team as announced by conference headquarters. Five sophomores, one junior and a pair of seniors highlighted the team for Siena.
A total of five sophomores led the honors for the Saints. Molly Chamberlain (3.24 - Social Work), Veronica Cimilluca (3.50 - History), Brittany Pavolko (3.82 - English), Erica Quinn (3.57 - Political Science) and Meghan Servello (3.20 - Political Science) headed the class.
The junior class representative was Allison O'Keefe, who has posted a cumulative GPA of 3.26 as an accounting major through the end of the fall semester. Representing the senior class were Jeanine McCann and captain Rachel McShane. McCann has accrued a 3.29 GPA and will graduate in May with a degree in English. McShane meanwhile has posted a 3.60 GPA and is on schedule to graduate with a degree in history.
Loyola College led all schools with 15 nominations on the women's side. In all, a total of 75 men's and women's swimmers were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
The Saints return to the pool today for the opening day of the 2009 MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Baltimore, Md.
