The Siena swimming and diving team enters their championship portion of the season when they take part in the MAAC Championships February 10th-13th at the Burt Flickinger Pool on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y. The competition commences Wednesday at 3 p.m. with the preliminaries of the women's 3-Meter Dive Event.
The whole 2016 MAAC Championships will be streamed live on MAAC.tv, and can be accessed by clicking the MAAC Championship Central link at the top of the release. The championships will conclude Saturday night with the presentation of the Men's & Women's most outstanding performers, coaches of the year and MAAC Championship team awards.
The Saints are led by freshman Emma Rupert, who possesses four top-five seed times (500 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free, 200 Breast). Theresa Cotter followed with three top-five times while Erica Askew and Emily Carideo each have two. Diver Hailey Beers is seeded third in the 1 Meter and second in the 3 Meter Dive. Siena is seeded third in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay.
"The atmosphere has been great," said Siena head coach Paul Kueterman. "We have been working on not only in the water with our training, but also the mental phases. We are working on the details so that for this week and weekend, everything will have been covered. We will be ready to go."
Siena was picked to finish fourth in the MAAC after a fifth place finish in 2015. Six-time defending champs Marist were again selected as the favorites to capture the 2016 Championships.
