The Siena College women's swimming and diving team held off visiting Vermont and Manhattan to earn a pair of heads-up victories in a tri-meet contested Saturday in Loudonville. The Saints defeated Vermont 58-54 and coasted past Manhattan 52-34. Vermont beat Manhattan 75-17.
Siena started the meet with a thrilling victory in the 200 medley relay, narrowly edging the Vermont team at the wire. The Saints team of Dana Golino, Kaitlin Krause, Christi Hunter and Ashley Serrago held off Hillary Taglienti, Nicole Underhill, Lauren Hayes and Caroline Tautz of Vermont.
Krause jumped back in the water in the meet's second event, emerging victorious in the 200-yard freestyle. Serrago followed with her trademark top performance in the 50-yard free, and Golino later won the 100-yard backstroke after finishing second in the 200 medley.
Senior Leah Serbalik won the 1M and teammate Jesica Shada had the top score on the 3M spring board to pick up key points for the home team.
Karuse and Serrago came back to win their second events of the day as well.
