Saints Sweep Holy Cross

The Siena swimming and diving team won every single event in their eventual 193-98 routing of Holy Cross. The Saints won their first home opener since 2009 and their sixth straight against the Crusaders. Siena (6-2-1) had many bright spots on the evening including Hailey Beers. The freshman swept both diving events highlighted by a score of 246 in the 3-meter. Shannon Love was one of only two swimmers to finish with two individual wins for the evening. Love took first place in the 50 free with a time of 24.65 and the 100 free, clocking in at 55.85. Jacque Medina was the other race with multiple wins. The sophomore finished first in the 200 free (1:58.10) and the 500 free (5:16.74). Megan Grace won her first career race in the 1000 free with a time of 10:50.57. Katherine Canavan, Emily Carideo and Lauren Daly also picked up their first individual first place finish. Canavan was the top swimmer in the 100 back (1:02.62), Daly took first in the 100 breast (1:12.54), and Carideo rounded out the winning trio taking the number one spot in the 200 back with a time of 2:14.09. Senior Kaela Bjornberg and sophomore Amanda York won one event each. Bjornberg finished with a time of 2:32.16 to win the 200 breast and York touched down at 2:12.24 to be victorious in the 200 fly. The Saints will take a week to rest before welcoming the Vermont Catamounts to Siena Swim Center. The meet will take place on Saturday, November 3rd and is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
