Siena Women in Sixth After First Day of Competition at MAAC Swimming Championships

The Siena College women's swimming and diving team stands in sixth place after its first day of competition in the 2005 MAAC Championships in Baltimore. The Saints trail fifth place Iona by just seven points. Marist, Rider, Loyola and Fairfield round out the top four.

The Saints started the day with a strong showing in the 200 freestyle relay, finishing in fourth place. The team was in second place by just fractions of a second heading into the final leg. Jessica Shada (7th) and Leah Serbalik (9th) each finished in the top-10 on the 1 M springboard. Sprinter Ashley Serrago placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle. Christi Hunter also scored points, placing second in the consolation bracket of the 200 medley.
