Swimming Finishes Seventh at MAAC Championships

Siena Swimming wrapped up its season Saturday with the final day of the 2017 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The Saints finished the four-day meet in seventh place. Marist won the title with 810 total points. Emma Rupert, Erica Askew, Julianna Sebastian, and Elizabeth Fournier had top eight finishes for the Saints.

Emma Rupert started the final session off strong for Siena with a seventh place finish in the 1650 freestyle finals (17:42.29). Freshman Carrie Bonvissuto added a ninth place finish (18:05.89) in the event.

In the 200 backstroke finals, the Saints had three swimmers in the top 16. Fiona Dretzka finished 13th (2:12.97), Rachel Brown took 15th (2:14.66), and Sinead Guy placed 16th (2:14.93).

Junior Erica Askew scored 12 points for Siena in the 200 breaststroke, placing seventh (2:27.77). Freshman Larissa Nanna finished 11th (2:31.28).

Julianna Sebastian secured Siena's best finish of the meet, placing fourth (2:09.87) in the 200 butterfly.Elizabeth Fournier collected Siena's fourth individual top eight finish of the day in the race. Fournier came in seventh (2:12.26). Maggie Fletcher also scored for the Saints in the final, placing 12th (2:13.37).

Siena closed out the MAAC Championships with a seventh place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:40.96). Fletcher, Fournier, Maggie Davenport, and Rupert represented the Saints in the event.
