Siena Swimming remained in seventh place on Friday at the MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Through 14 women’s events, the Saints have collected 186 points. Sophomore Emma Rupert led Siena with her sixth place finish in the 1000 freestyle.
Rupert had the Saints’ best finish of the day in the 1000 freestyle, coming in sixth (10:36.70). Freshman Carrie Bonvissuto finished tenth in the event (10:54.32). Rupert also placed eighth (4:49.83) in the 400 IM.
Sophomore Elizabeth Fournier was Siena’s top finisher in the 100 butterfly. She placed ninth (59.26). Fournier added a 14th place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:59.02), while senior Maggie Fletcher picked up seven points in tenth (1:56.92).
Junior Erica Askew scored for Siena with an eighth place finish (1:09.33) in the 100 breaststroke. Freshman Larissa Nanna came in 13th place (1:10.51) in the event finals. Junior Fiona Dretzka picked up another top eight finish (59.68) in the 100 backstroke finals, with Fletcher placing in 11th (1:01.06).
The Saints ended the third night of competition with a seventh place finish (4:05.42)in the 400 medley relay. Dretzka, Askew, Fournier, and Fletcher represented Siena in the event.
The Saints will be back in the pool at 10 a.m. Saturday to begin the final day of the Championships. The morning session will begin with 200 backstroke prelims and feature five total swimming events.
The final session of the 2017 championships will begin at 6 p.m. and include the 200 backstroke finals, the 100 freestyle finals, the 200 breaststroke finals, and 200 butterfly finals. The meet will conclude with the 400 freestyle relay.
