Siena Fourth After Day One of MAAC's

The Siena swimming and diving team find themselves tied for fourth place, along with Fairfield with 79 points, after day one of the MAAC Championships being held in Buffalo. Hailey Beers finished fifth in the 3-Meter Dive event to lead the Saints.

At the start of the meet, the conference announced the All-Academic Team. In order to be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, students must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Siena had a total of 11 members on the list. The senior honorees were Emily Carideo, Lauren Daly, Megan Grace, Michelle Swanson and Dory Miller, Juniors Maggie Fletcher, Colleen McDonough, Katie O'Rourke and Caroline Powell and representing the sophomore class were Erica Askew and Brigid Wynne.

In the first swimming event of the night, Siena finished fourth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay after the team of Fiona Dretzka, Daly, Theresa Cotter, and Maggie Davenport finished in a time of 1:48.00.

 

 

The 800 Yard Medley Relay featured another sixth place finish from the Saints. Fletcher, Emma Rupert, Carideo and Francesca Tinucci swam a time of 7:57.96.

Siena will be back at it tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the first session of day two of the MAAC Championships. The second session is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
