A quick turnaround after the Saints defeated Assumption College last night, the swimming and diving team was back at it on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Saint Francis (Pa.) The Red Flash controlled the tempo to defeat the Saints 158-121.
In a meet controlled by the Red Flash, Kesley Helin was the lone Saints member to to win, as she came in first in the 200-yard breaststroke. Helin won the event with a final time of 2:36.55. Helin also placed second in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 33:37.
Danyel Johnson led the Red Flash Saturday afternoon. Johnson won three individual events. Johnson won the 50-yard Butterfly (26.91), the 50-yard Free (24.74), and the 50-yard backstroke (28.24).
Divers Hailey Beers and Kate Ackert each participated in the one-meter dives. Beers placed first in the one-meter scoring 181.20 points. Ackert also participated in the three-meter dive, placing first with a total of 141.25 points.
Megan Grace continued to swim well in the distance events. Grace finished second in both the 1000-yard free and the 500-yard free. Grace finished the 1000 free in 10:58.60 and the 500 free in 5:25.78.
Emily Carideo placed second for the Saints in the 200-yard Fly with a final time of 2:16.86. Dory Miller finished second behind Helin in the 200-yard breaststroke with a final time of 2:38.25.
The Saints finish their three-meet home stand next Saturday, February 1 against Sacred Heart. The Saints will honor the three members of the senior class for senior day prior to the meet.
