Siena Swimming competed for the third time in eight days, and final time before the MAAC Championships, on Saturday afternoon in Loretto, PA against Saint Francis (PA). The Red Flash bested the Saints 166-89. Sophomore Emma Rupert led Siena with three second place finishes.
Siena opened the meet with a third place (1:56.71) in the 200 medley relay with a team of Fiona Dretzka, Erica Askew, Elizabeth Fournier, and Colleen McDonough. Rupert was the Saints' top finisher in the 1000 freestyle, coming in second (11:02.26). Rupert scored two more second place results in the 500 freestyle (5:27.25) and the 200 IM (2:19.85) in the meet.
Freshman Katie Ludwicki led Siena in the 200 freestyle, finishing second (2:04.72) before Dretzka took second in the 100 backstroke (1:02.59). Dretzka later picked up a another runner-up in the 200 backstroke (2:17.78). Freshman Larissa Nanna chipped in a second place in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.60).
Siena will begin the MAAC Championships on February 8 in Buffalo, NY. The Saints finished fifth in the championships last season.
