LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Softball Head Coach Bill Lajeunesse announced the signing of three to the program. The trio makes their way to Siena from Cohoes, Arizona and California.

“The 2017 recruiting class will provide our program with depth in a number of areas,” stated LaJeunesse. “With the players we have added to the roster we have impact players in the circle as well as in the middle infield and behind the plate. We are looking for all of our freshmen to compete for starting positions right away and have an impact on our team on both sides of the ball offensively and defensively.”

Isabelle DeChiaro makes the short trip down Route 9 coming from Cohoes, New York. She was a part of the 2017 Section 2 Class B Champions and NYS Regional Champions. DeChiaro is a five-time Cohoes High School Team MVP as well as a two-time Colonial Council MVP. She was named the 2015 NYS Class B Co-Player of the Year. In 2016, DeChiaro was a NYS Class B First Team All-Star. She is a five-time Times Union First Team All-Star as well as a two-time Times Union Small School Player of the Year. DeChiaro also played soccer and was a Colonial Council Second Team All-Star in 2016. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was Class President for two years.

“Isabelle comes from an extremely competitive high school and travel team,” noted LaJeunesse. “We are looking for her to compete right away for pitching time in the circle as well as being a contributor in the middle of the lineup offensively. She has the ability to pitch but play a position and we hopefully see her breaking into the lineup right away whether in the circle or as a position player.”

Briana Garrett will become the seventh player of the Saints roster to hail from California. The Lancaster, California native is a three-time Golden League First Team. Garrett was named to the Golden League Second Team after her freshman year. She is a two-time Varsity MVP at Quartz Hill High School. Garrett earned the Varsity Rookie of the Year Award and the Varsity Rebel Award.

“Briana adds depth to our pitching staff,” LaJeunesse said. “She will also compete for time in the circle right away. She is a versatile player who can swing the bat and play another position. She has extensive experience playing shortstop and we are looking for her to continue in both areas offensively and defensively.”

Briana Wilbur graduated in the top 10% of her class at Estrella Foothills. The Goodyear, Arizona native was named a First Team Infielder in 2014-15. Wilbur was named an All Section Second Team Designated Hitter after the 2014-15 season. She was a 2016-17 4A Division I Honorable Mention honoree. Wilbur was a member of the National Honor Society.

“Briana comes from a successful high school program in Arizona as well as a successful travel team,”LaJeunesse stated. “We are looking for her to add depth to our middle infield as well as provide production offensively somewhere in the middle of the lineup. We feel she can contribute right away and we are looking forward to her being a run producer in the lineup.”

The three will add onto a program that is set to return 17 following their seventh straight 20-win season and program record 14 MAAC victories.
