After collecting trophies from Siena College, the MAAC, and Capital One, Shannon Jones has now earned recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She was selected to the NFCA's Great Lakes All-Region Second Team, and was one of just five players in the conference to achieve All-Region status.
Jones led the MAAC in batting average (.434), home runs (14), RBI (43), hits (66), runs (46), total bases (127), and slugging percentage (.836). She set single-season program records for homers, hits, and runs, as well as career marks for batting average (.396) and doubles (39). Additionally, Jones became just the third player in Siena history with more than 100 career RBI, and tied the career record in that category as well with 119 runs driven in.
It's been a busy offseason for the junior. She was also named Siena College's Female Student Athlete of the Year, the MAAC Co-Player of the Year, a MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, and a Capital One Academic All-District First Team selection.
The Saints won 20 games and went 8-8 in MAAC play for the second consecutive year. The 20 wins tied for the most by a Siena softball team since 2005, and the eight wins in conference play tied for the most since 2003.
