Freshman Shannon Jones (Troy, N.Y./Troy) was named to the MAAC Softball Second Team Thursday evening at the pre-Tournament awards banquet held in Buffalo, N.Y. Jones batted .344 in 50 games this season, and her 55 hits were the third most in a season in program history.
Jones batted third in the Saints' lineup and played shortstop, starting 50 of the team's 51 games. She finished the year 55-for-160 (.344) with six home runs, 12 doubles, 33 RBI and 12 runs scored. She earned one MAAC Rookie of the Week honor (3/22).
The Saints finished the year with a 14-37 record and a 7-9 league mark. Head Coach Deanna Parks announced during the season that she will not return next year. The school is in the process of hiring her successor.
