LOUDONVILLE, N.Y – The Siena softball team will have a busy spring break as they travel to Florida this weekend for the 2014 Rebel Spring Games. The Spring Games consists of 12 games in six days.

“We will be looking to improve upon our performance from our trip to ETSU,” said Coach Bill Lajeunesse. “We are looking to get the offense jump started and continue to play solid defense and pitch well.”

Siena (1-3) is coming off a tough weekend at East Tennessee State where the Saints lost three of four games. Jessika-Jo Sandrini pitched a complete game shutout to give the Saints the 1-0 win over Oakland in the first game and the Saints lost the rematch with Oakland on a walk-off home run in eight innings.

The Rebel Spring games will provide the team with the experience they need to win MAAC games and defend their regular season title.

Coach Lajeunesse continued, “The schedule is very competitive and we hope to begin to put things together and compete in each game we play.”

Siena opens play in Florida with a doubleheader on Sunday against Utah Valley (0-13) at 10 a.m. followed by their game with UMass-Lowell (1-3) at noon.

Heading into the Spring Games, the Saints opponents currently have a cumulative record of 21-48 for a .438 win percentage. The Saints will face South Dakota, the only team with a winning record at 8-5 twice over the course of the week. The schedule includes two games with Utah Valley (0-13), Howard (0-0), UMass-Lowell (1-3), Bucknell (2-7), Army (5-8), Creighton (4-9) and Saint Peter’s (1-3).
