Loudonville, N.Y. – Jessika-Jo Sandrini was named MAAC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Sandrini tossed a complete game shutout in the Saints 2014 season opener against Oakland in Johnson City, Tenn. over the weekend.

Sandrini, the team’s only senior and captain for the 2014 season is poised to lead the Saints to defend their Regular Season MAAC Championships and qualify for the MAAC Tournament.

In the seven complete innings, Sandrini faced 26 total batters and gave up four hits while striking out six. Sandrini drove in the Saints only run in the third that would eventually be the game winning RBI off a Sac Fly to centerflield.



Sandrini continued her dominance in the circle in her second appearance of the weekend. Sandrini relieved Antonia Edwards after her 5.2 shutout innings and continued to shutdown the Oakland batters, pitching 1.2 innings, striking out five of the seven batters she faced.

Softball is back in action when they travel to Winter Have, Fla. for the Rebel Spring Games. The Saints will be 12 games in six days, starting on March 9, 2014, when they play Utah Valley at 10 a.m. and UMass-Lowell at 12 p.m.
