LOUDONVILLE, N.Y - Reigning ECAC Pitcher of the Week Tara Campbell remained red-hot in the circle shutting down Marist in a 4-0 victory in the second half of a doubleheader split in Loudonville Saturday. Marist rallied from 5-1 down to take the first game 6-5. Megan Woltz was 3-for-7 with three RBI on the day for the Saints.
In the first game, Siena (11-21-1/3-6 MAAC) took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning. Adrian St. Cin singled to lead off the frame and pinch runner Marlo Daniels scored on Christa Fasano's sacrifice bunt, which was mishandled by the Red Foxes. After Jasmere Polanco got Marist (10-32/4-6 MAAC) on the board with an RBI single to centerfield in the fourth, the Saints broke through for three runs in the fifth to take a commanding 5-1 lead.
Marist scored five runs in the decisive sixth inning on six hits. Barbara Leasure had a key two-RBI single and scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Allison Bartley's single to centerfield plated Chrystine McHugh with what proved to be the game-winning run.
Campbell came on and pitched a scoreless seventh inning, but the damage had been done.
In the nightcap, Campbell was brilliant, allowing just four hits while striking out four. Woltz drove home the first run of the game in the third inning, but Marist avoided further damage when Veronica Arredondo was thrown out at the plate to end the frame. The Saints put the game away with three runs in the fifth inning.
Chani Grant scored the Saints second run on a wild pitch, and Lisa DiBlasi came through with a two-out single through the left side of the infield with the bases loaded. Rose and Woltz scored on the play accounting for the final 4-0 score.
The Saints return to action at Dartmouth on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
