Game One Box Score

The Saints smashed four home runs, scoring 23 runs and Mandy Ferro's walk off single helped lead the Saints to their fourth straight MAAC win, sweeping Rider 16-0; 7-6.  Jessika - Jo Sandrini earned the win in both contests.

In the opener, Siena (12-21, 4-2 MAAC) pounded out 19 hits, with every starter recording at least one in the 16-0 victory.

The Green and Gold got off to a fast start, scoring six in the opening frame capped off by an Abby Carpenter two run shot, one of three home runs Siena would have in the first game.  Sandrini and Shannon Jones also picked up RBIs in the inning.

Siena kept their bats powered in the third, plating seven runs in the stanza.  Paige Lloyd and Alyssa Lancaster both laced two run doubles in the frame.  Siena would actually scorch six doubles in the inning, two by Carpenter, and one a piece from Jones and Megan Volz, which would plate runs.

Mikaela Searight added to the scoring with a pinch hit home run to left field with a runner on base.  The next batter, Jones would follow her with her third home run of the season.

Jones, Lancaster, Carpenter, and Mandy Ferro all recorded three hits in the contest, with Jones scoring three and tallying three RBI.  Carpenter also drove in three.

On the mound, Sandrini scattered just three hits in her complete game shutout, striking out five.

Game two would be much more tightly contested, with four ties and the Saints needing a walk off.

Siena once again was the first team to reach the scoreboard in the first, with Volz's RBI single off the pitcher and Melanie Kalesse scoring on an error.

Rider (7-34, 3-7 MAAC) would score one run in each of the next four innings to take a 4-2 lead.  Gina McCool concluded the scoring by hitting into a double play to plate a run.  The Broncs would have the bases loaded in three consecutive innings but left nine runners on base in the game.

The Saints tied the game in the sixth, with a solo shot from Paige Lloyd, her sixth of the season.  Siena would actually take the lead when Lancaster drove in two with a double down the left field line.

However, Rider, who was down to their final strike, would tie the game in the seventh with a Mary Rossi single.

Siena rallied in the bottom half, when Ferro singled into center field scoring Chelsea Stout with the winning run.

Carpenter led the offensive splurge, going 5-for-9 in the two games while Jones recorded five hits in her eight at bats with four runs scored.  Lancaster drove in a team high five runs on the day.

Sandrini recorded two wins on the day allowing three runs on four hits in the second.

The Saints will try to continue their win streak tomorrow when they welcome the Fairfield Stags to campus, for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
