Andrea Lindgren fired a complete game three-hit shutout in the opener, and UAlbany scored the game-winning run in their final at bat in the nightcap to secure a softball sweep of Siena Sunday afternoon in Albany. Siena falls to 5-12 overall after evening up their MAAC record at 2-2 with a sweep of rival Marist Saturday.
Albany broke the ice in game 1 with a single run in the second and added an insurance tally in the fifth. Siena's Tisha Salamino picked up the hard-luck loss, working all six innings and allowing just one earned run. Christa Wittman collected two of Siena's three hits. Sophomore Sarah Rose had the third.
In the nightcap, Siena struck first with a single run in their first at bat, but the Great Danes fought back with three in the bottom of the first. The Saints took the lead back with three runs in the top of the third, and extended their advantage to 5-3 with a run in the top of the fifth.
Albany scored single runs in their final three at bats to pull out the win. Becky Brockman went 3-for-3 at the plate in a losing effort for Siena. Veronica Arredondo and Tara Campbell, who suffered the loss in the circle, added two hits apiece.
