The Siena College women's softball squad began their season under first year Head Coach Patti Brun with five losses in a tournament at the Southeast Missouri University. The games, which began on March 5 and lasted through March 9, began with a 8-1 loss to the host team. Carrie Getz's RBI-single in the fourth brought Trish Salamino across the plate for the first run of the season. Adrian St. Cin was 2-for-4 at the plate.
Game two brought Siena up against David Lipscomb University. Carrie Getz was 3-for-3, with Sara Rose contributing a RBI. Junior DH Becky Brockman went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Her single to left in the bottom of the third put Siena at 4-2 behind the Bisons, but the home team would storm back with four in the bottom of the sixth, to put the game away.
Southwest Missouri played visitor in the third game, with an identical score as the last game. Carrie Getz contributed two of the Saints four hits on the day, with St. Cin and Rose each adding another. St. Cin brought two runs home, while Rose cracked in another.
Siena battled with Middle Tennessee State in game four, losing 4-1. Brockman went 2-for-3 on the afternoon and St. Cin hit the first double of the year. Veronica Arredondo brought home the only score for the Saints.
The culmination of the tournament came with a 5-1 loss to Drake University. St. Cin contributed another double, while Getz went 2-for-3 scoring the only run on the defeat.
A seven game eastern seaboard road trip for the Saints will kick off on Wednesday, as they face off against Quinnipiac in Hamden, Conn. The first pitch is set for 2 pm. MAAC play begins on Saturday, March 29 versus Saint Peter's in Jersey City.
