Jones recorded season-high three hits
March 10, 2013
Hampton scored three runs in the second on three Siena errors and did not record a hit; Siena could not fully comeback as they dropped their ninth straight. The losing streak extends to the last two games of 2012.
Siena (0-7) had the bases loaded with the tying and winning runs in scoring position with two outs in the seventh, but Jordan Sandrini grounded into a fielder's choice, and Mandy Ferro was out at third to end the game.
The big inning for the host Pirates (11-11) came in the second when Siena allowed two walks and three errors and placed three Hampton runs.
Siena would get one of those runs back in the bottom half of the frame on a Jordan Sandrini sacrifice fly.
The Saints would continue to chip away with a sacrifice fly by Megan Volz in the fourth and a Chelsea Stout single in the seventh.
Shannon Jones led the way for the Saints going 3-for-4 on the day. Siena left 12 runners on base in the loss.
Alyssa Lancaster (0-4) got the start for the Saints allowing four runs, only one earned in six innings. In the seven games this season, Siena has allowed 24 unearned runs.
Siena will now travel to Coppin State March 14.
