LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - For the second straight week, Siena Women's Soccer boasts not only a MAAC Player of the Week, but an ECAC honoree as well. Senior striker Caitlin Cahalan, who was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Monday, has earned the same honor from the ECAC.
Last week sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Booth earned both the MAAC and ECAC's Defensive Player of the Week. As strong as Booth was in goal the previous week, Cahalan was equally explosive offensively last weekend.
In the Saints' MAAC opening weekend in western New York, Cahalan erupted for nine points on three goals and three assists in a split with Niagara and Canisius. The local product from Cohoes, N.Y. was involved in six of Siena's seven goals in the two games.
After scoring a goal in Friday's night affair at Niagara, Cahalan had the game of her career in Sunday's 5-3 win at Canisius. She posted a career-high seven points, scoring the first two goals of the game and assisting on the final three including the game-winner.
In the process of Sunday's win, Cahalan moved into sole possession of fifth place on the program's all-time career scoring list while also tying for fifth in goals.
Following her impressive weekend, the 2011 MAAC First Team selection and Preseason All-MAAC pick now leads the Saints and ranks second in the conference with 11 points.
Cahalan and the Saints return to the pitch Saturday when they travel to defending MAAC Champion Marist for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Poughkeepsie.
