LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Following a career game Sunday, Siena Women's Soccer striker Caitlin Cahalan has been named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week. The senior captain and local product from Cohoes, N.Y. erupted for nine points over the weekend, including a career-high seven-point performance in yesterday's win at Canisius.
Cahalan factored in six of the Saints' seven goals over the weekend as the team opened MAAC play with a split at Niagara and Canisius. She tallied three goals and three assists in the two games.
On Sunday, Cahalan had a hand in all five of Siena's goals in a 5-3 win at Canisius. She scored the first two goals of the game and assisted on the final three including the game-winner. In the process, she moved into sole possession of fifth place on the program's all-time career scoring list while also tying for fifth in goals.
Cahalan opened the weekend with a goal in Friday night's 3-2 loss at Niagara. For the season, she now leads the Saints and ranks second in the MAAC with 11 points.
Cahalan and the Saints return to the pitch Saturday when they travel to defending MAAC Champion Marist for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Poughkeepsie.
