LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Soccer couldn't have enjoyed a much better opening weekend. As a result, the Saints swept the first MAAC Weekly Awards of the season. Brittany Pfaff was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Taylor Booth earned Defensive Player of the Week honors and Tara Sobierajski was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
The trio led the Saints to a 2-0 opening weekend, with home wins Friday over UMass (4-3) and against Binghamton (2-1) Sunday.
A native of Charlotte, Vt., Pfaff paced the Saints with a seven-point weekend. The senior captain was involved on five of Siena's six goals, tallying two goals and three assists. She notched a pair of goals and assisted on the game-winner against the Minutewomen and assisted on both of the Saints' scores against the Bearcats.
Booth earned both victories in goal making 16 saves while posting an .800 save percentage. The Epping, N.H. product tied a career-high with 11 saves in the win against UMass and was dominant in a five-save performance vs. Binghamton.
Sobierajski scored a goal and added an assist in her collegiate debut Friday. Additionally, as time expired she made a sliding save thwarting the potential game-tying tally to preserve the win. On Sunday the Rockaway, N.J. native played all 90 minutes in the center back once again, helping limit Binghamton to just a single goal.
The Saints look to continue their hot start Thursday when they travel to Colgate for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The match will be televised throughout New York on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
