LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Soccer was picked to finish sixth by the conference's 11 head coaches in the MAAC Preseason Poll released Wednesday. Junior back Anna Grant and senior captain Brittany Pfaff were named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.

Defending MAAC Regular Season co-Champion Fairfield (115 votes) edged out fellow co-Champion Marist (113) in the polling as the favorite to win the league. New MAAC member Monmouth was selected a distant third (86), followed by Rider (69) and Niagara (68) to round out the top-five. Siena (64) was a close sixth, followed by Iona (62), new MAAC member Quinnipiac (59), Canisius (45), Manhattan (32) and Saint Peter's (13) to round out the polling.

A native of Stratham, N.H., Grant has emerged as one of the premiere center backs in the MAAC. A 2011 MAAC All-Rookie Team selection, she started in all 18 games last season and registered four points.

A striker out of Charlotte, Vt., Pfaff is Siena's top returning scorer after amassing nine points (four goals) en route to being named a Second Team All-MAAC selection last fall. Pfaff recently enjoyed a strong season with the New York Magic of the prestigious USL W League this summer where she ranked sixth in the league with 17 points in just 11 games played.

Siena went 6-11-1 overall in 2012 and finished tied for seventh in the MAAC with a 2-6-1 conference mark. Fifteenth year head coach Steve Karbowski and the Saints kick off their 2013 season Friday at 4 p.m. against UMass at Siena Field.
