Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena College women's soccer team (4-10-2, 2-4-2 MAAC) was defeated today 2-0 by the Fairfield Stags (8-9-2, 7-1-0 MAAC) in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at Siena Field.
The two teams played an evenly matched first half, with Fairfield holding a slight 6-4 lead in the shot count at halftime. Fairfield did manage to find the back of the net on one of their shots, as Pamela Cluff gave the Stags a 1-0 lead 23:36 into the game. Junior Julie Anne Forman picked up her first of two assists on the day, leading to Fairfield's 1-0 lead at halftime.
Fairfield took control of the second half, firing 14 shots at Siena goalkeeper Lisa Miceli (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip), while the Saints only managed five shots on goal. Kelly Chapple was able to direct one of Fairfield's shots past Miceli on an assist from Forman to give the Stags the final 2-0 win. Miceli finished the day with nine saves in goal, while Fairfield goalie Dana Communiello posted six stops.
The Saints will next be in action on Sunday, October 22 at 1:00 as they host MAAC opponent Iona at Siena Field.
