LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena women's soccer head coach Steve Karbowski has released his program's schedule and announced team captains for the upcoming fall season. The Saints will play 10 of their 18 regular season matches at Siena Field and be led by senior strikers Taylor D'Alfonso and Brittany Pfaff.
"We are looking forward to the season with the new 11-team MAAC and going to Disney for the conference championships," said Karbowski. "We've put together another competitive non-conference schedule and two preseason exhibitions to prepare us for MAAC play."
The 2013 schedule features a program record tying 10 home matches and two road contests against programs that qualified for the 2012 Women's College Cup.
The Saints open the season with a home weekend against UMass on Friday, Aug. 23 at 4 p.m. and Binghamton (Aug. 25). Since the start of the 2007 season, the Saints are an impressive 36-9-5 (.770) at Siena Field and are 21-1-2 in their last 24 non-conference home matches.
Additional non-conference home matches are slated against new Division I program UMass-Lowell (Sept. 6), Rhode Island (Sept. 13) and Vermont (Sept. 18).

The Saints open their 22nd season of MAAC competition Sept. 21 at Rider. The new 11-team conference features 10 league matches evenly split with five at home and five on the road. Siena also faces new conference foe Quinnipiac (Sept. 25), Niagara (Oct. 9), Iona (Oct. 19) and Manhattan (Oct. 26) in MAAC road contests.
Siena hosts Saint Peter's in the conference home opener Sept. 28, kicking off a stretch where the Saints will enjoy four of their following five games at Siena Field. The Saints also will play host to Marist (Oct. 2), new MAAC member Monmouth (Oct. 12) and Canisius (Oct. 16) before closing out the home slate with Senior Day on Oct. 23 vs. Fairfield.
The 2013 MAAC Women's Soccer Championships will be held at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. All 11 teams qualify for the tournament which will be held Oct. 31 - Nov. 4.
On his 2013 captains, Karbowski noted, "Taylor and Brittany have been dedicated and committed individuals for the women's soccer program over the past three years. They are leaders and well respected members of the team. They both have a great work ethic to prepare themselves throughout the year, but also have the care and awareness for what is best for the team. Taylor and Brittany will provide a leadership necessary for the success of the team in 2013."
A native of Cicero, N.Y., D'Alfonso has appeared in 35 career games making 10 starts. She has tallied six points on two goals and two assists.
A 2010 MAAC All-Rookie Team and 2012 Second Team All-MAAC selection, Pfaff enters her senior season just outside the top-10 on the program's all-time career scoring list with 36 points. The Charlotte, Vt. native started all 18 games last fall and finished second on the squad with nine points.
