The women's soccer team concluded their 2004 season this afternoon with a 2-0 win against Manhattan at Gaelic Park. The Lady Jaspers finish the season with a 2-15-1 overall record and a 2-6-1 MAAC record, while the Saints improve their record to 10-7-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the MAAC.
Siena's two goals came in the first half of play. At the 30:27 mark the Saint's sophomore Kristen Turner scored after she carried the ball about 40 yards placing it past Manhattan goalkeeper Alicia DeFino to give Siena a one goal lead. Less then two minutes later Turner struck again after she got a foot on a cross from teammate Sarah Hopkins placing it in the lower right corner of the goal, capturing her fourth assist of the season.
The Saints went into the second half with a two-goal lead and never lost it. Manhattan had many scoring opportunities like a shot from junior Jaclyn Pancotti that hit the cross bar with three minutes remaining in the game.
Siena outshot Manhattan 15-8 and held a 4-3 advantage in corners. DeFino finished the game with seven saves for the Lady J's and Siena's goalkeeper Noel Cox recorded one save. Saints sophomore goalie Carey Winkler saw 18 minutes of action.
