LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Nichole Schiro's goal in the 27th minute was the difference as Loyola handed Siena Women's Soccer a 1-0 loss in the Saints' season finale. The Saints end the 2012 season with a 6-11-1 overall record and 2-6-1 mark in the MAAC.

Prior to the match, the Saints honored the careers of senior captains Caitlin Cahalan, Nicole Daly and Lisa Valenziano in a special Senior Day ceremony. The trio posted 42 wins during their careers and each was a key member of the 2010 MAAC Championship team.

In a fairly evenly played match, both teams had multiple quality chances to score. Siena out-shot Loyola (10-5-4, 6-2-1) 18-15 and held an 8-7 edge in corner kicks.

But the Greyhounds would cash in when Schiro netted her conference-leading 14th goal of the season. She took a thru ball down the middle and lofted it inside the near post for the decisive tally.

Siena goalkeeper Erin Kelly was impressive in her first match of the season and made six saves. Didi Haracic stopped five shots for Loyola which will be the No. 3 seed in next weekend's MAAC Championships in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
