POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Siena went on the road to Marist and picked up a key win Wednesday night thanks to goals by Jill Lanzl and Sarah Shumway and a shutout performance by Noel Cox.

Siena (3-7-3, 3-1-1 MAAC) got the scoring started with just over five minutes remaining in the first half when Lanzl (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season from 10 yards out.

Shumway (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) converted off a corner kick to double Siena's lead in the 78th minute. The goal was Shumway's fourth of the season.

Cox, the Siena goalie, made the lead stand up by making three saves. Marist (2-10-2, 1-2-1 MAAC) goalie Mellanie Nai made seven saves in the loss. Siena outshot Marist 13-8 and owned a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Saints are 3-0-1 in their last four games. With the win, the Saints move into third-place in the conference standings. Siena has a chance to move up further when it hosts conference leader Loyola on Friday and Rider on Sunday.
