Women's Soccer Ends in 1-1 tie, After Double Overtime

Final Stats

The Siena women's soccer team took on Iona College this afternoon on their home turf, and tied the Gaels 1-1 in double overtime.

Senior co-captain Erin DeMatteo scored the first goal at the 30:05 mark. DeMatteo received a cross from junior Corry Silon and found the back of the net.

The second half went by with both teams playing consistently even. It wasn't until the 75th minute of the half that the Gaels managed to sneak a goal off a shot by Maggie Prairie. Leanne Sudol was credited with the assist.

For the Saints, goalie Noel Cox stopped two shots while her counterpart Jessica Martin made four saves. The final shot tally was a 14-6 and 4-3 corners in favor of Siena.

The Saints conference record moves to 4-1-1 and 7-7-1 overall.

The Saints play their next game on Sunday against Fairfield at 1 p.m.
