The Siena women's soccer team scored a goal in each half to take a 2-0 shutout over Marist College in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action today at Siena Field in Loudonville, N.Y. With the win the Saints improve to 6-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 in league play while the Red Foxes drop to 2-10-1 and 1-2-1 in the MAAC with the loss.

The Saints scored their first goal of the afternoon less than three minutes into the first half, as Corry Silon found the back to give Siena the 1-0 lead. After a corner kick, Jen Kies got her head on the ball and directed it towards Katie Ferry who touched it over to Silon for the tally. The Saints took the one-goal advantage into halftime.

Melissa Farrington added an insurance goal for the Green and Gold at the 75:14 mark of the second half after putting away a ball by Sarah Shumway.

The Saints outshot the Red Foxes 8-4.

Noel Cox recorded her second shutout of the season and had one saves in the cage for Siena. Marist keeper Meredith Fabian made four stops.

The Saints return to action next Friday as they travel to Farifield University. Game-time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
