LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Caitlin Cahalan tallied a point for the fourth straight game as Siena played to a 1-1 draw with Iona in the MAAC home opener Friday afternoon at Siena Field. Cahalan now has scored 12 points over the Saints' first four conference games.

Cahalan opened the scoring in the 49th minute, taking advantage of a misplayed ball by the Gaels' (5-6-3, 3-1-1) defense. A long cross in from the left looked for the senior who was marked by two defenders. An Iona back made the initial play on the ball, but couldn't keep possession as Cahalan pried it away and scored to give Siena (5-7-1, 1-2-1) a 1-0 lead.

The Saints seemed poised to the seal the deal, but Iona, which recorded 10 shots in the second half after attempting just one in the opening stanza, kept the pressure on. With just 6:15 remaining in regulation, the Gaels' Laura Jackson turned and fired a shot from 30 yards out which popped up off Taylor Booth's mitts, hit the crossbar and went down into the goal.

In overtime, the best chance would come from the Saints with just over three minutes remaining in the second session. Brittany Pfaff sped down the right side of the field and fired a shot right to left, but the ball hit the post and caromed out.

Iona out-shot Siena 15-12 and both teams took five corners apiece as the Saints remained unbeaten in their past six home games (4-0-2) against the Gaels.

Booth made four saves for the Saints, while her counterpart Trista Rivera stopped three shots for Iona.

The Saints return to action Sunday when they host Fairfield for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
