Christel Kalweit scored the only goal of the afternoon to give Sacred Heart a 1-0 victory over Siena College on day one of the Governor's Cup held at University at Albany today. With the loss the Saints fall to 2-3 on the season.
Kalweit's goal came at the 62:08 mark off a corner kick by Lisa Burbige.
The Saints outshot the Pioneers 17-10, forcing keeper Leslie Konsig to come up with eight saves to preserve the victory. Despite the constant pressure, Siena was unable to finish on the afternoon and Kalweit's goal was all Sacred Heart needed to walk away with the victory.
Siena goalie Noel Cox finished with three saves in the net for the Saints.
The Green and Gold will face host school Ualbany tomorrow on the final day of the tournament. Game-time is 3:00 p.m.
