Women's Soccer Stages Comeback in 4-3 Victory Over Lafayette

Freshman Kristen Turner scored her second-straight gamewinner to give Siena a 4-3 victory over Lafayette on the first day of the Army Gillette Classic in West Point, N.Y. With the win the Saints have now won two-straight and will go into Sunday's final match-up of the tournament with a 2-2 record. Lafayette drops to 0-4-2 on the season with the loss.
Siena got the scoring started as Jen Kies found the back of the net off a ball from Turner, just 1:33 into the game. Lafayette fought back however as Miriam Habeeb got a ball past the fingers of Siena keeper Krista Nordmark to tie it up at one apiece. Siena and Lafayette would again go on to trade goals before Lafayette put one more away at the 31:33 mark to take a 3-2 lead into halftime. Erin DeMatteo scored Siena's second goal of the afternoon on an assist by Katie Ferry.
The Saints managed to stage a comeback, scoring two goals in the second half while holding Lafayette scoreless for the 4-3 victory. Ferry connected on yet another ball from Turner, tying up the game and giving the Saints a shot at the victory. Turner, who finished with one goal and two assists on the afternoon, scored her gamewinner with just two minutes left to play.
Siena's keepers, Krista Nordmark and Noel Cox split time in the cage. Nordmark finished with one save while Noel Cox held the Leopards scoreless while making three saves. Lafayette goalie Amy Kalista had six saves on the afternoon.
The Saints will next face host Army on Sunday, September 14 in the final day of the tournament. Game-time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
