Albany, N.Y. - Sophomores Susie Blaisdell and Erin Morine each made three attempts on goal, but came up short as Siena (1-2, 0-0) fell to cross-town rival Albany, 2-0 at Colonie Central High School on Monday.
At the 71:31 mark Elana Maccou secured the Great Danes first win of the season, when classmate Uju Ogbuawa centered the ball from the right corner and Maccou picked up the loose ball and found the back of the net. Sophomore Alicia Gibson tallied the first goal of her career 9:47 later when she scored from 18 yards out.
Saints keeper Patti Carroll recorded five saves in the loss while junior goalkeepers Ashley Nuessle and Andrea Dunn each played a half and combined for 13 saves in the shutout.
It was UAlbany's first win in five tries against the Saints since moving to Division 1. Siena leadsthe all-time series 4-1-0.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Hartford in a 7 p.m. show down.
