Cara Riley '11 enters her first season as an assistant coach with the women's soccer program. Riley recently completed a successful four-year career as a center midfielder for the Saints and graduated in May.
"It is great to have Cara joining our coaching staff as the first ever graduate assistant," said Karbowski. "Cara has been a tremendous leader, role model and first class student-athlete for the pastfour years. She is well respected by all and will bring her passion as a player to the coaching staff to continue the direction of the program. Cara's dedication, competitiveness and positive attitude will be a great addition to our staff and soccer program."
A member of the program from 2007-10, the Saints posted a 50-20-5 (.700) overall record during Riley's time which included the three winningest seasons in program history. In her senior year, she captained a Siena squad which set a program-record for wins (17) and captured the first-ever MAAC Championship and NCAA Women's College Cup Appearance in program history.
A member of the winningest class in program history, Riley was an All-MAAC Tournament Team selection during the Saints MAAC Title run and was also a two-time MAAC Second Teamer and three-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
A native of Berlin, Conn., Riley appeared in all 75 games for the Saints during her career which included 70 starts. She finished with 10 goals and 13 assists for 33 points in her career, with six of her goals being game-winners.
Riley is currently enrolled in Siena College's accounting graduate program.
