Barone was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and a MAAC First Team selection in 2008 after setting Siena's single-season record in goals (15), game-winning goals (six) and tying the record for points (35).

In each of her final three seasons she was named to both the MAAC Second Team and MAAC All-Academic Team. As a junior she led the Saints to the program's first-ever MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament Appearance and was named to the NSCAA/Performance Subaru All-Northeast Region Second Team.

During her senior season, Barone led the Saints in goals (10), points (22) and game-winning goals (three) en route to being named to the Capital One Academic All-District I Second Team.

A native of nearby Clifton Park, N.Y., Barone was named the Section II Player of the Year her senior year in high school after leading Shenendehowa to the Suburban Council Championship.
