Women's Lacrosse Named to IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Lacrosse team has been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad. The Saints are one of 310 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA being honored. Cara McQuillan and Lauren Anglim were both named to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll.

This is the fifth consecutive year the Saints have been named to the Academic Honor Squad. In order to qualify for this honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher cumulative team GPA.

The Saints posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.15 for the 2016-17 school year. The program placed four on the MAAC All-Academic team earlier this year, which is reserved for student athletes who have both reached sophomore standing and who possess a cumulative grade points average above a 3.20 or higher.

All nine MAAC Schools, Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, Niagara, and Quinnipiac joined Siena on the IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad.

McQuillan and Anglim were on of 402 student athletes representing 102 different institutions on the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or higher.

McQuillan was place on the honor roll for the second consecutive year. She graduated in May 2017 with a degree in Business and a cumulative GPA of 3.78 . The East Meadow, New York native played and started in all 16 games last season. She dished scored eight goals and dished out one assist. The senior picked up 17 ground balls and caused seven turnovers during the season.

Anglim took her place on the academic honor roll for the first time. She boasts a 3.52 GPA while studying English. The Miller Place, New York native played and started in all 16 games for the 2017 Saints. She tallied 11 goals and dished out one assist. The junior picked up 14 ground balls and recorded nine draw controls.

 

 

McQuillan and Anglim were one of 32 MAAC Student Athletes named to the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll. The Saints are set to return three of their top five scorers for the 2018 season.
