LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Lacrosse freshman Lauren Smith was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week Monday. The Menands, N.Y. native scored a career-high five goals in Saturday's 12-10 win at Iona which secured the Saints a MAAC Tournament berth.

Smith, who entered the day with just 10 goals in her first 12 games of the season, scored five times in a 23-minute span. She scored five of the Saints' first six goals, helping Siena hold the lead throughout en route to clinching the program's fourth straight MAAC Tournament berth.

Smith added three draw controls and picked up two groundballs in the win. She has won 39 draw controls this season, good for fourth overall in the MAAC.

Smith is the third Siena freshman to earn MAAC Weekly honors this season. Sarah Croutier is a three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week (2/25, 3/5, 4/1) and Ashley Holdridge was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week Apr. 1.

Smith and the Saints conclude regular season action Saturday when they host Niagara for Senior Day at 3:30 p.m.
