Season Ends in Semis
The Siena women's lacrosse team gave top-seeded Canisius all it could handle for 40 minutes Friday night in the MAAC semifinals, but the Griffs used a 6-0 run to claim a 14-7 win at Tenney Stadium in Poughkeepsie. Canisius advances to Sunday's Championship game. Siena sees its season end in the semis for a fourth straight year.

Siena (3-8, 1-1) is looking to build off its first MAAC win of the season, a 12-7 triumph at Manhattan last Wednesday. Sarah Croutier, Erin Mossop and Alyssa Treanor all netted hat tricks in the win. Croutier ranks tied for sixth in the MAAC with 31 points.

The first MAAC Women's Lacrosse program to win three consecutive conference tournament titles, Canisius (6-5, 2-1) tied for the second most goals in program history with a 23-15 win over Quinnipiac Sunday. Senior midfielder Maria Kotas tallied a school-record 14 points in the win, tying for the fourth highest single-game scoring total in NCAA history and most by any Division I player since 2007.

Kotas and teammate Tori Quinn - the MAAC Preseason Co-Players of the Year - rank first and second in the conference in scoring with 48 and 43 points respectively, while teammate Taylor Giglio stands fifth with 32 points. Kotas also stands seventh nationally in both groundballs (3.27) and caused turnovers (2.27) per game.

Canisius leads the all-time series between the program's 11-6. The Golden Griffins have won the past eight meetings and defeated the Saints twice last year including 14-7 in the MAAC Semifinals.
