Women's Lacrosse Drops MAAC Opener
Siena out-shot Marist 29-21 and won nearly every statistical category except the one that mattered most. The Red Foxes scored the final three goals of the game to overcome women's lacrosse 10-8 in the conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon in Poughkeepsie.

Siena (2-8, 1-0), which won its conference opener last Saturday for the first time since 2007, will look to start 2-0 in league play since that same season. The Saints upset five-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Fairfield 8-5 here at Siena Turf Field, snapping the Stags' 30-game conference regular season winning streak.

Led by freshmen Ashley Holdridge and Sarah Croutier - who earned MAAC Weekly honors for their efforts - the Saints beat Fairfield for just the second time in program history. Croutier, who tallied a hat trick including the game-winning goal in that contest, leads the Saints with 30 points and has already broken the program's freshman record with 13 assists.

Another program record could fall today as well thanks to Julia Sirianni. The sophomore transfer, who ranks 10th nationally in draw controls per game (5.2), needs just two more to break Lindsey Rosecrans' single-season record of 53 set in 2009.

Marist (4-8, 1-1) holds an 11-5 advantage in the all-time series with the Saints. The Red Foxes have won six of the past seven meetings, although the last three games have each been decided by two goals or less.
