Women's Lacrosse Loses in MAAC Semis
The winningest class in Siena Women's Lacrosse history saw their brilliant careers come to an abrupt end Friday. MAAC Regular Season Champion Fairfield scored the game's final five goals to defeat the fourth seeded Saints 10-4 in the conference semifinals at the Demske Sports Complex.
Fans can watch the game by purchasing a Siena Lacrosse Family Pack or a single game passport at SienaAllAccess.com. Women's Lacrosse Family Packs cost just $84.95 - nearly a 40% savings off the total value - and include streaming video of all six home games, an exclusive Nike Siena Lacrosse sweatshirt, a professional digital 8x10 photo and weekly Siena Lacrosse Insider e-mail updates. Individual game passports are available for $7.95.
Siena (1-8) opens its 17th season in the MAAC looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. The Saints, which were picked fifth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, are just 1-17 all-time against Fairfield (5-5) and have lost nine in a row against the Stags. Siena's only win in the series was a 14-12 triumph on Apr. 10, 2005 in Loudonville.
Selected second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Fairfield has won the regular season title every year since 2008 although the Stags only won the conference tournament championship once during their run in 2009. Nonetheless, Fairfield has won 30 consecutive MAAC Regular Season games including 15 in a row on the road. The last time Fairfield lost a regular season conference game was a 16-9 loss at LeMoyne on Apr. 22, 2007.
