LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women’s Lacrosse has claimed two of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s three weekly awards. Sophomore midfielder Alexis Deaken has been named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and freshman midfielder Kerry Gerety has been tabbed the MAAC Rookie of the Week.
The reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year who was a four-time MAAC Rookie of the Week last season, Deaken earns MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. The Orangeville, Ontario native totaled 12 points last week on nine goals and three assists in the Saints’ road contests at Vermont and Army West Point. Deaken put 11 of her 12 shots on goal, and added seven draw controls. On Wednesday, she tied her career-high with five goals and added both a pair of groundballs and draw controls against the Catamounts. Deaken concluded her stellar week with a seven-point performance on four goals and three assists, while adding five draw controls in an overtime contest against the Black Knights.
Gerety recorded her first two collegiate hat tricks in totaling six points while adding seven draw controls last week. The local standout from Albany by way of Guilderland High put 11 of her 13 shots on target. Gerety scored three times and won a season-best five draws at Vermont, and followed that performance up with another hat trick and two draw controls against Army West Point.
The Saints return to action Wednesday when they host LIU Brooklyn at 3 p.m. at Siena Turf Field.
