Siena Women’s Lacrosse begins their 2017 campaign at Winthrop in Rock Hill, South Carolina on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. This is the first time in program history the Saints and Eagles will face off.

Here’s 10 Things to Know About Today’s Game
1. The Saints and Winthrop have never met in program history.
2. The Eagles are the 2015 and 2016 Big South Conference Tournament Champions.
3. Siena set a program record averaging 12.1 goals per game during the 2016 season
4. The Saints tied the program’s single season record of 206 goals scored last season.
5. Siena returns three of their top five scorers from the 2016 season, including Michelle Schwartz who recorded a team-high 17 assists on the year.
6. Emily Conway was named to the All-MAAC Preseason Team for defense
7. Winthrop will look to junior trio Kristen Shriver, Katie Clark and Allie Yeager, who combined for nearly a third of the team’s goals last season, to push the Eagles on offense.
8. The Eagles also return two-time All-Conference performer Katherine Judge who tied for the team lead in draw controls while finishing second in both ground balls and caused turnovers.
9. Winthrop was a perfect 8-0 in conference play last season while only losing three games.
10. The Eagles fell to Penn State 16-6 in the 2016 NCAA Tournament in Gainesville, Florida
