LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Fairfield raced to an early lead and never looked back as the Stags beat the Siena women's lacrosse team 17-4 Sunday afternoon.
Fairfield (9-5/6-0 MAAC) led 10-0 at the half but the Saints (0-12/0-5 MAAC) scored all four of their goals early in the second half to stay competitive. Fairfield outshot Siena 30-10 and collected 33 ground balls to Siena's 20.
11 different Fairfield players scored, led by Lauren Uhr and Tracey Schaefer who each notched hat tricks. Jessica Conahan added a goal and three assists.
The Saints offense was powered by Gina Purpura (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) who scored twice. Stephanie Petruccelli (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Colleen Crowley (Gansevoort, N.Y./Saratoga) each notched goals as well. Diana Bernstein (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart) had a strong day as well with two draw controls and a team-high three caused turnovers.
Siena visits Central Connecticut on Tuesday before closing the season against Manhattan at home Friday.
