LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Fresh off one of the biggest wins in program history, Siena Women's Lacrosse failed to build upon the momentum as Marist dominated from start to finish in defeating the Saints, 13-4. Sophomore Julia Sirianni broke Siena's single-season record for draw controls in the loss.
Last Saturday Siena (2-9, 1-1) ousted five-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Fairfield 8-5, snapping the Stags' 30-game conference regular season winning streak. But with a chance to open MAAC play 2-0 for the first time in six years, the Saints squandered their opportunity.
Marist (5-8, 2-1) led 7-2 at the half and controlled throughout. The Red Foxes peppered the Siena cage for 32 shots, 22 of which they put on goal.
Jamie Romano tallied four goals for the Red Foxes, while Kirsten Viscount and Ashley Miller added hat tricks. Viscount also won six draw controls and Ashley Casiano was impressive in goal making 12 saves.
Sirianni, who entered the day needing just two draw controls to break Siena's single-season record, won five. The transfer from nearby Saratoga Springs, N.Y. who ranks 10th nationally in draw controls, broke assistant coach Lindsey Rosecrans' record of 53 set during the 2009 season.
Siena embarks upon a three-game road trip Wednesday when they face defending MAAC Champion Canisius for a 7:15 p.m. tilt in Buffalo.
